ABOUT
Who? The Grey Owls are an original Americana band from San Diego who are passionate about creating meaningful music, with songs that tell a story, paint a picture, take you to another place, like only good music can do. With elements of folk, country, blues, indie rock, and pop creeping in from all angles, the Grey Owls are making great music from that west coast Americana tradition of timeless songs that spans genres and generations. They bring a wealth of veteran musicianship and San Diego cred to the stage, with a big sound that makes you wonder if you know this band already.
THE GREY OWLS ARE:
Jaimie Muehlhausen (vocals, guitar)
Hannes Kling (keyboards)
John McMeekan (bass guitar)
Deane Cote (lead guitar)
Jack Nathan (drums)
“The album Motel features songs that are often bleak but with cohesive themes that are familiar: people, places, and departed lovers encountered on the road, who come and go on buses, live in motels, and hang out in bars. Muelhausen's songs may tread on the same turf as John Mellencamp, but they have a softer, folkish vibe and his earnest voice clicks. The somber themes of Motel, expressed though the understated melodies and well-crafted lyrics of the Grey Owls, accomplish a solid emotional connection.” — San Diego Troubadour
